CONCEPT

How many times you take the same route to go to your work place, how many time you go to same coffee shop or drink same coffee medium size, double double pl,
or how many times you see the same signage from your window or experience the same day In an urban social political environment, we all become same, victims of a “a type” of capitalist world, which is so similar or “perfect” that we are not interested in coming out. “Think like me” become social and potential agenda and forcing us to create own space around us. You fabricate your life and let me fabricate mine. You play your game and let me play mine. We wear the same fashion, meet same people. “Odd spaces” explore how much fear we have developed with “a difference life pattern”. Odd spaces is a NewMedia interactive piece to explore new experiences in real-time in add configurations.

elevator is the most common “space” we all use almost every day to move or go to one floor to another floor. It acts as transporter and takes us from one place to another. Depending on the building floors and the kind of the elevator, we normally spend 30 sec to 2 min time in an elevator almost everyday. In friction of “time in a day” your body travel from earth to space.

EXPERIENCE

Two Lifts/elevators are connected with Internet through a web cam and a projector. One is in Toronto and other is in Pakistan. Or one is in Toronto and the other is in New York. The “project” participants are all those people who use elevator. You connect with each other from a different time zone through technology. The elevators are set for a week to 10 days. When there are 2 or more people in both elevators you can see, talk or say hi or say nothing or what ever.

There will be an added video/projection out side or in a gallery space.

Odd spaces talks about how we can or will react to each other if we don’t know the context and we can’t reach the other person . It also explore how we can interact in add configurations.
